Boy Krazy

Boy Krazy was a female pop group from New York City that consisted of members Kimberly Blake, Josselyne Jones, Johnna Lee Cummings, Renee Veneziale, and former Miss Junior America, Ruth Ann Roberts.

Their first single, "That's What Love Can Do" was released in 1991, but the song first failed to make any impact, peaking only at #86 on the UK Singles chart and soon after, Renee left the group.
A year later in 1992, "That's What Love Can Do" was remixed and soon became successful in the US nightclubs. The song peaked at #18 on the Billboard Hot 100, #2 on Billboard's Rhythmic Top 40 chart, #33 on Billboard's Rhythmic Top 40 chart, and #19 on Billboard's Adult Contemporary chart. But in the UK, the song still wasn't a hit, peaking only at #80 on the UK Singles chart.
In 1993, Boy Krazy released their self-titled debut album which peaked at #25 on Billboard's Heatseekers albums chart. The second single, "All You Have to Do" peaked at #91 on the UK Singles chart, but didn't chart in the US.
Their last single, "Good Times With Bad Boys" peaked at #59 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #31 on Billboard's Top 40 Mainstream chart. The song wasn't released in the UK, but it was also released in continental Asia and Europe.

Soon after, Johnna left the group after the release of their last single. The remaining members of Boy Krazy tried to develop a new album, but were unable to and soon disbanded.

Today, Ruth Roberts works in the wrestling community, going under the name "Rue DeBona." Johnna Cummings signed a solo deal with PWL International Ltd. under the name "Johnna" and released two singles to moderate success.

Josselyne works now as a producer and agent in New York. Renee sang with other bands and now works as a yoga teacher.

Sonia

Sonia (born Sonia Evans on February 13, 1971 in Skelmersdale, Lancashire, England; raised in Liverpool) is a female English pop singer, who had moderate success in the US, but was very popular in the UK.

Sonia started her singing career in 1989 when it was launched by songwriting group Stock Aitken Waterman and was signed to Chrysalis Records after badgering Pete Waterman (of Stock Aitken Waterman) to listen to her sing outside a recording studio in Liverpool. Waterman had Sonia sing on his weekly radio broadcast.
In June of 1989, Sonia released her debut single, "You'll Never Stop Me Loving You" which topped the UK Singles chart for two weeks, making it Sonia's one and only #1 hit.

In the U.S., the song was also successful on the Billboard dance charts, peaking at #10 on Billboard's Hot Dance Music\Club Play chart and #26 on Billboard's Hot Dance Music\Maxi-Singles Sales chart.
A year later, Sonia released her debut album, "Everybody Knows" which was released in the UK and Germany.
The second single from the album, "Listen to Your Heart" peaked at #10 on the UK Singles chart, #22 on the Irish Singles chart, and #39 on the French Singles chart.
The third single from the album, "Counting Every Minute" peaked at #16 on the UK Singles chart and #18 on the Irish Singles chart.
The fourth single from the album, "Can't Forget You" peaked at #17 on the UK Singles chart, #5 on the Irish Singles chart, and #17 on the Spanish Singles chart.
The last single from the album, a cover version of Skeeter Davis' song, "End of the World" peaked at #18 on the UK Singles chart and #18 on the Irish Singles chart. Despite the album reaching the top 10 the UK, Sonia was dropped from Chrysalis Records after releasing her debut album.
In June 1990, Sonia was featured on the single, "You've Got a Friend" with English boy-band, Big Fun which peaked at #14 on the UK Singles chart and #12 on the Irish Singles chart.
In October of 1991, Sonia released her self-titled sophomore album on independent record label, IQ. A year later in 1992, the album was repackaged and re-released in the US as Sonia's debut album.
The first single from the album, "Only Fools (Never Fall in Love)" peaked at #10 on the UK Singles chart and #6 on the Irish Singles chart.
The second single from the album, "Be Young, Be Foolish, Be Happy" peaked at #22 on the UK Singles chart, #23 on the Irish Singles chart, and in the US, it peaked at #13 on Billboard's Adult Contemporary chart.
The last single from the album, "You to Me Are Everything" peaked at #13 on the UK Singles chart and #14 on the Irish Singles chart.

After the release of her second album, Sonia signed a new record deal with Arista Records when she agreed to take part in the Eurovision Song Contest.
In 1992, Sonia released the single, "We've Got the Power" which didn't chart, but was in connection with the launch of the UK television series, "Gladiators."
In 1993, Sonia released her third album, "Better the Devil You Know" that May following her appearance in the Eurovision Song Contest.
The first single from the album, a cover of Heatwave's song, "Boogie Nights" peaked at #30 on the UK Singles chart.
The second and final single, the title song peaked at #15 on the UK Singles chart and Sonia performed the song in the 1993 Eurovision Song Contest as the UK's entry.
In 1994, Sonia released a cover version of Olivia Newton-John's song, "Hopelessly Devoted to You" which peaked at #61 on the UK Singles chart.
In 1995, Sonia released a cover version of Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes' song, "Wake Up Everybody" which flopped, peaking at #155 on the UK Singles chart.
In 1998, Sonia's third and last album, "Love Train: The Philly Album" was released as a promo due to Sonia being unhappy that the lead single from the album, "Wake Up Everybody" flopped.

In 2003, Sonia was a part of the UK reality show, "Reborn in the USA," but was voted off in the fifth week of the show. In January 2007, Sonia starred in a pantomine version of "Jack and the Beanstalk" in Horsham, West Sussex.
In June 2009, Sonia released her first single in fourteen years, "Fool for Love" on Energise Records and will be featured on a compliation album with other singers from the 80's and 90's.

Betty Boo

Betty Boo (born Allison Moira Clarkson on March 6, 1970 in Kensington, London, England) is an English female dance/pop singer-songwriter. Her nickname was originally named after the cartoon character Betty Boop, but she changed it to avoid trademark disputes.

Before starting her music career, Betty studied sound engineering at the Holloway School of Audio Engineering. While still attending school, Betty began her music career by signing to British record label Music of Life with hip-hop music group the She-Rockers. The success led her to New York and work with Public Enemy, who encouraged her to pursue a solo music career.

In 1989, Betty earned her big break when she appeared as a guest vocalist on The Beatmasters' single, "Hey DJ, I Can't Dance (To That Music You're Playing)" which managed to peak at #7 on the U.K. Singles chart and #13 on Billboard's Hot Dance Music/Maxi-Singles Sales chart in 1991.

In August of 1990, Betty released the single "Doin' the Do" which peaked at #7 on the U.K. Singles chart, #90 on the Billboard Hot 100, topped Billboard's Hot Dance Music/Club Play Singles chart for a week in October of that same year & also topped Billboard's Hot Dance Music/Maxi-Singles Sales chart. The song also peaked at #3 on the ARIA Singles chart in Australia.

In September of 1990, Betty Boo released her debut album "Boomania" which peaked at #4 on the U.K. Albums chart, but didn't make the charts in the U.S.

Betty's follow-up single "Where Are You Baby?" peaked at #3 on the U.K. Singles chart and #19 on the ARIA Singles chart. The song was featured on the soundtrack to the Jennifer Connelly film "Career Opportunities."

The last single from the album "24 Hours" peaked at #25 on the U.K. Singles chart and #94 on the ARIA Singles chart. At the 1991 BRIT Awards ceremony, Betty was voted that year's "Best British Breakthrough Act." During that same year, she contributed the song "Why, Oh Why?" to the "A Rage in Harlem" movie soundtrack.

In 1992, Betty signed to WEA Records and released her sophomore album "Grrr It's Betty Boo" which peaked at #62 on the U.K. Albums chart.

The first single from the album "Let Me Take You There" peaked at #12 on the U.K. Singles chart and was moderately successful in Sweden & Australia.

The second single "I'm On My Way" managed to peak at #44 on the U.K. Singles chart. The third single from the album "Hangover" peaked at #50 on the U.K. Singles chart.

The fourth single "Catch Me" peaked at #14 on Billboard's Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart and #13 on Billboard's Hot Dance Music/Maxi-Singles Sales chart.

The last single from the album "Thing Goin' On" peaked at #5 on Billboard's Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart and #9 on Billboard's Hot Dance Music/Maxi-Singles Sales chart. After the release of her second album, Betty turned down an offer to sign with Madonna's Maverick Records label.

Betty's solo career halted when her mother became ill with terminal cancer. She later turned to songwriting, writing songs for artists such as Girl Thing, Girl Aloud, Louise Nurding, Dannii Minogue, The Tweenies and Sophie Ellis-Bextor.

In 2006, Betty formed a pop music duo called WigWam with Blur bassist Alex James. Despite working to create an album, they only released one self-titled single in April of 2006.

In August of 2007, Betty released the single "Take Off" which was a joint project with London-based dance music act Jack Rokka. The song managed to peak at #92 on the U.K. Singles chart. She promoted the single on ITV's "Loose Women."

In June of 2011, Betty was featured on the track "Virtually Art" by The Feeling on the double-album edition of their 2011 album "Together We Were Made." During that same year, she also appeared on Fiesty 2 Guns' album "Street Sculptures" on the track "Bloody War."

Miss Jones

Miss Jones (born Tarsha Nicole Jones in Brooklyn, New York) is a former R&B singer from the 90s. She graduated with honors from the Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts, majoring in classical music.

Miss Jones also received a Bachelor's degree in music from Syracuse University. After completing college, she worked as a long-distance operator. She later met rapper Doug E. Fresh who admired her vocal skills & invited her to his Get Fresh Crew tour. She later signed a record deal with Tommy Boy Records.

In 1994, Miss Jones released her first single "Don't Front" which featured Doug E. Fresh. The song peaked at #73 on Billboard's Hot R&B Singles chart, staying on the chart for 11 weeks.

Her second single "Where I Wanna Be Boy" peaked at #79 on the Billboard Hot 100, #24 on Billboard's Hot Dance Music/Maxi-Singles Sales chart and #21 on Billboard's Hot R&B Singles chart, staying on the chart for 20 weeks.

After that, Miss Jones left her record label to take a job as a radio DJ for New York radio station Hot 97. She eventually returned to performing, signed to Motown Records and began recording her debut album.

In 1998, Miss Jones released her only album "The Other Woman" whcih peaked at #51 on Billboard's R&B Albums chart and #40 on Billboard's Heatseekers Albums chart. The album featured production from Mario Winans & Rashad Smith and guest appearances from Craig Mack & Mobb Deep.

The only single to chart was "2 Way Street" which peaked at #62 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #27 on Billboard's Hot R&B Singles chart, staying on the chart for 20 weeks. Miss Jones was later released from Motown Records and by 2001, she eventually left the music scene.

Miss Jones became the host of her own radio show on Hot 97 entitled "Miss Jones in the Morning" until 2008. In 2007, she wrote an autobiography entitled "Have You Met Miss Jones?: The Life and Loves of Radio's Most Controversial Diva."

These days, Miss Jones is the founder and CEO of Jonesyradio.com where she broadcasts "Jonesy in the Morning" from 7:00 to 10:00 a.m. daily.

Choice

Choice (born Kim Davis) was a female rapper from Texas. She made her first appearance on musician Willie D's album, "Controversy" and her stint on the album paved the way for Choice's solo album.

In 1990, Choice released her debut album, "The Big Payback." Even though it didn't chart, the album is best known for the track "Payback" in which she disses rap artists such as Too Short, the late Eazy-E, Ice Cube, the Geto Boys, Willie D and N.W.A.

In 1992, Choice released her sophomore album, "Stick-N-Moove" which managed to peak at #83 on Billboard's R&B Albums chart. The album included sexually explicit songs which no female rapper has ever taken to the extremes.

The only single released from the album was, "HIV Positive" which failed to chart at all on the Billboard charts. After that, it seemed as if Choice faded into obscurity. Nothing much has been heard from her since.

Cookie Crew

Cookie Crew were a female hip-hop/rap duo from Clapham, South London that consisted of MC Remedee (born Debbie Pryce on December 4, 1966) and Susie Q (born Susan Banfield on March 10, 1967).

Susie Q is the sister of singer Andrew Banfield (who was a member of R&B group The Pasadenas) and MC Remedee was a former chief for the Ministry of Defence. They got their start in the music business after winning a national rap competition & recorded two sessions for the John Peel BBC Radio 1 show.

Cookie Crew later received a record deal from UK dance music label Rhythm King and they were placed in the studio with music production trio Beatmasters who helped put the duo in a dance music direction.

The first single "Rok Da House" was successful in nightclubs, but didn't appear to make the charts at all.

Cookie Crew's second single "Females (Get On Up)" peaked at #78 on the U.K. Singles chart, #16 on Billboard's Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart and #75 on Billboard's Hot Black Singles chart, staying on the chart for 7 weeks.

In 1989, Cookie Crew released their debut album "Born This Way!" on FFRR Records. The album peaked at #93 on Billboard's R&B Albums chart and #24 on the U.K. Albums chart.

Their third single "Got to Keep On" peaked at #17 on the U.K. Singles chart and #33 on Billboard's Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart. The last single from the album "Come On and Get Some" peaked at #42 on the U.K. Singles chart.

In 1991, Cookie Crew released their sophomore album "Fade to Black" which didn't appear to make the Billboard or UK album charts at all.

The only single to chart was "Secrets (of Success)" which peaked at #53 on the U.K. Single chart and #28 on Billboard's Hot Rap Singles chart.

The follow-up singles "Love Will Bring Us Back Together" and "Brother Like Sister" failed to make the charts at all.

By 1992, Cookie Crew wanted to pursue a more orthodox hip-hop/rap style, but FFRR's parent record label London Records wanted to steer them into a pop-oriented rap style. The conflicting differences eventually led to Cookie Crew leaving their label and retiring from the music industry.

Despite that, Debbie and Susan have continued to be involved with other projects within in the music industry and continued to perform & travel the world.
