Sweet Sensation were a female freestyle\dance trio from the Bronx, New York whose members consisted of sisters Margie & Mari Fernandez and lead singer Betty LeBron. The trio formed in 1986 and was originally signed to Next Plateau Records before moving to Atco Records.
In 1986, they released their first single "Hooked On You" which peaked at #64 on the Billboard Hot 100 a year later, but when it was remixed in 1989, the song peaked at #23 on the Billboard Hot 100.
In 1987, they released their second single "(Goodbye Baby) Victim of Love" which charted at #44 on Billboard's Hot Dance Music\Club Play Chart.
In 1988, Sweet Sensation released their debut album "Take It While It's Hot" which peaked at #63 on the Billboard 200 chart.
The original album cover had Betty, Margie, & Mari on it, but in the 1989 re-pressing of their album, new member Sheila Vega replaced Mari on the front cover, but the vocals on the album weren't re-recorded after the personnel change.
The trio's third single "Take It While It's Hot" went up to #57 on the Billboard Hot 100, but charted successfully on #7 on Billboard's Hot Dance Music\Maxi-Singles Sales chart and #14 on Billboard's Hot Dance Music\Club Play chart.
The fourth single from the album "Never Let You Go" peaked at #58 on the Billboard Hot 100 and topped Billboard's Hot Dance Music\Club Play chart and Billboard's Hot Dance Music\Maxi-Singles Sales chart in September of that same year.
The last single released from the album "Sincerely Yours" peaked at #14 on the Billboard Hot 100, #30 on Billboard's Hot Dance Music\Club Play chart, and #6 on Billboard's Hot Dance Music\Maxi-Singles Sales chart. In 1989, Mari Fernandez was replaced by Sheila Vega.
In 1990, Sweet Sensation released their sophomore album "Love Child" which peaked at #78 on the Billboard 200 chart.
The first single, a cover version of the Supremes' song "Love Child" peaked at #13 on the Billboard Hot 100, #15 on Billboard's Hot Dance Music\Club Play chart and #6 on Billboard's Hot Dance Music\Maxi-Singles Sales chart.
The second single from the album "If Wishes Came True" became Sweet Sensation's biggest hit, topping the Billboard Hot 100 and replacing Mariah Carey's song "Vision of Love" for a week. The song also peaked at #8 on Billboard's Adult Contemporary chart.
The third single "Each and Every Time" peaked at #59 on the Billboard Hot 100. The last single released from the album "One Good Man" was released in 1991, but it didn't get a commercial release, however, the single peaked at #72 on the Billboard Hot 100 Airplay chart.
During that same year, Sweet Sensation released a remix album called "Time To Jam." It's unknown how or if the album charted at all.Margie and Sheila left the group and were replaced with new members: Belle, Maya and Jenae. They were together briefly in a few live shows, but the group split up in 1992 and faded into obscurity.
In 2005, Betty Lebron (under the name "Betty Dee") was featured on the dance single "My Body Tu Cuerpo" which was credited as "Dynamix Presents Sweet Sensation." In 2007, Betty, Sheila and Jenae briefly reformed, but it's unknown what the other members are currently up to.

The Gyrlz
The Gyrlz were an R&B girl group consisting of members Monica Bryce, Terri Robinson, and Tara Geter. I know their name looks misspelled, but I'm guessing that was how it was back in the 80s. (Go figure.)The girls were backup singers for a couple of acts during the late 80s and their demo tape was produced by none other than Teddy Riley (the founder of the New Jack Swing movement) and Kyle West. They met with Uptown Records' producer, Andre Harrell and started working on their debut album.
Their debut and only album "Love Me Or Leave Me" was released in 1988 which didn't appear to chart at all. The Gyrlz wrote and co-wrote all the songs on the album along with Teddy Riley & Kyle West.
They released two singles "Jam Jam (If You Can)" and "If It's Games You're Playing" which didn't appear to chart.
The third single "Wishing You Were Here" also failed to chart as well. The group sang backup with singer Al B. Sure! on his "Heartbreak" tour and became the opening act for New Edition and Bobby Brown.
By the end of Al B. Sure's tour, the girls split up. After the breakup, Terri went to New York & sang for another group called Key West, but they never released an album. After that, Terri reunited with Monica and became a duo (with Tara as their manager).
These days, the Gyrlz have seemed to have faded into obscurity. It's unknown what the members of the group are currently up to.

This was the last album for member D'Marie Warren before she tragically passed away in a car accident in February of 1985 at the age of 32. Karon Floyd didn't return to the group after her maternity leave and she was replaced with singer Robbie Danzie.
In 1986, Krystol released their third album "Passion From a Woman" which peaked at #55 on Billboard's R&B Albums chart.
