Amoretto

Amoretto (which means "Little Love Cupids") was a freestyle music act starring singer Jeanette De Jesus.
In 1986, they released their only single "Cláve Rocks" which peaked at #26 on Billboard's Hot Dance Music\Maxi-Singles Sales chart.

The song was written, composed and produced by Rae Serrano. Musician Tito Puente provided a timbales solo on the song as well. After that, it seems as if Amoretto has faded into obscurity. It's unknown what the members of the group are up to these days.

Nolan Thomas

Nolan Thomas (born Marko Kalfa on August 24, 1966 in Jersey City, New Jersey) was a freestyle musician from the '80s. He was discovered by dance music producers, Mark Liggett and Chris Barbosa (the producers of Shannon's "Let the Music Play") while he was still in high school.

"Yo, Little Brother" peaked at #57 on the Billboard Hot 100, #9 on Billboard's Hot Dance Music\Maxi-Singles Sales chart, #39 on Billboard's Hot Dance Music\Club Play chart, and #26 on Billboard's Hot Black Singles chart, staying on the chart for 20 weeks, making it his biggest hit to date. Even though he was in the music video for the song, Elan Lanier sang the vocals for the song.
In 1985, Nolan released his self-titled debut album which featured "Yo Little Brother" which didn't chart at all.
His next single, "One Bad Apple" charted at #105 on Billboard's Bubbling Under Hot 100 Singles chart and #48 on Billboard's Hot Black Singles chart, staying on the chart for 8 weeks.
Another single, "Too White" was also released, but didn't chart. Nothing much was heard from Nolan until 1987 when he was featured on fellow freestyle musician Monet's single, "Leave the Lights On" which was moderately successful on the R&B charts.
In 1989, Nolan released the single, "Once Around the Block" under his birth name "Mark Kalfa" on Vendetta Records. It's unknown how or if the single ever charted.

After that, Nolan pretty much faded out of the music scene. These days, he is currently the co-owner of male fashion company, Guido New York.

Monet

Monet (born Bernadette Suarez) was a female freestyle\dance singer from the '80s. Not much information has been given about her, but from my point of view, she was one of the most talented freestyle musicians of the 80s.

From what I heard, Monet was supposed to be like freestyle\dance singer, Shannon, but she didn't receive a lot of popularity like her.
In 1987, she released her debut album "Leave the Lights On" on Ligosa Records. The album was produced by Chris Barbosa and Mark Liggett (who produced Shannon's hit song, "Let the Music Play").
Monet's first single "My Heart Gets All the Breaks" peaked at #19 on Billboard's Hot Dance Music\Club Play chart, #7 on Billboard's Hot Dance Music\Maxi-Singles Sales chart, and #48 on Billboard's Hot Black Singles chart, staying on the chart for 8 weeks.
The follow-up singl, "Leave the Lights On" (featuring singer Nolan Thomas) peaked at #76 on Billboard's Hot Black Singles chart, staying on the chart for 7 weeks.
Three more singles, "Come on to Me," "Give in To Me" and "Do You Remember" were released, but didn't chart at all. After that, Monet seemed to have faded into obscurity. Nothing much has been heard from her since the '80s.

La La

La La (born LaForest Cope in Queens, New York) was a female R&B singer\songwriter who was one of the most successsful urban contemporary songwriters of the '80s. She has written songs for Kashif, Lillo Thomas, Melba Moore, Glenn Jones, George Pettis, Bernard Wright and Whitney Houston.

Raised in the East Elmhurst neighborhood of Queens, La La started playing the piano when she was 5 years old and gave a piano recital at Carnegie Hall when she was 9 years old.

After leaving New York's High School of Music and Art, she formed a band called Jack Sass, which played Top 40 cover versions on the club scene. As the band's reputation grew, La La began introducing more of her own songs into the repertoire before attending Julliard to major in composition.

In 1981, La La was invited to tour with Stacy Lattisaw, who opened up for the Jacksons on a national tour. Following this, she sang with R&B group, Change along with the late Luther Vandross where her voice was heard on their song "The Glow of Love" which was co-written by Wayne K. Garfield, (one of her childhood friends from East Elmhurst).

La La played one of her songs called "Stone Love" to another neighborhood friend, R&B singer, Kashif, who recorded it on his debut album in 1983.
In 1984, she released the single "Into the Night" which was featured on the "Beat Street Vol. 2" soundtrack.
With help from Kashif, La La signed to Arista Records and released her self-titled debut album in 1987 which peaked at #57 on Billboard's R&B Albums chart.
The first single "(If You) Love Me Just a Little" peaked at #22 on Billboard's Hot Black Singles chart, staying on the chart for 12 weeks.
The follow-up single "My Love is on the Money" peaked at #48 on Billboard's Hot Black Singles chart, staying on the chart for 8 weeks.
Two promo singles "We'll Keep Striving" (a duet with R&B singer, Bernard Wright) and "I Got a Thing for You" were released, but didn't chart. After this album, La La left Arista Records and moved onto Motown Records.
In 1991, La La released her second album "La La Means I Love You," but it failed to make much impact on the charts.
The only single released from the album was "Always" which didn't make the Billboard music charts at all. After that, she left the music scene and seemingly faded into obscurity. These days, La La works as an English professor at York College & has a son.
