I will be moving my music blog to WordPress because I've been having some publishing problems with Blogspot that I have tried to figure out, but to no avail. Blu [born Byron Blu Mitchell from Los Angeles, California] was an R&B singer from the 90's. He graduated from Taft High School in 1987. In 1995, Blu released his debut album, "Out of the Blu" on Motown Records. It's unknown how or if the album ever charted. The only single to chart from the album was "My Ol' Lady" which managed to peak at #86 on Billboard's Hot R&B\Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart. After that, it seemed as if Blu had faded into obscurity. Groove U. was an R&B quartet from the 90's. Not much information is given about them, but they released one album. In 1994, they released their debut album, "Tender Love." It's unknown how or if the album charted. The first single, "[Seek and You'll Find] The Kinda Right Baby" peaked at #68 on Billboard's Hot R&B\Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart, making it their highest appearance on the chart. Their follow-up single, "Old Becomes New" peaked at #88 on Billboard's Hot R&B\Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart. After that, it seemed as if Groove U. had faded into obscurity.

Spice had faded into obscurity. There hasn't been any releases by him since.

Artz & Kraftz were an R&B act from the 90's. Not much information is given about them, but they released two albums.

In 1990, they released their debut album, "Beginning of an Era" on Motown Records. It's unknown how or if the album ever charted, but they released the single, "What a Feeling."

In 1993, Artz & Kraftz released their second album, "The Experience" on Columbia Records. It's unknown how or if the album charted, but the single, "All of It" managed to peak at #21 on Billboard's Bubbling Under Hot R&B Singles chart. After that, it seemed as if Artz & Kraftz had faded into obscurity.

Jordy

Jordy [born Jordy Lemoine on January 14, 1988 in Saint-Germain-en-Laye, Yvelines, France] is a male French singer who became the youngest singer ever to have a #1 single at only 4 years old. His parents are record producer Claude Lemoine and former singer-songwriter, Patricia Clerget.

After Claude tried to involve Jordy in television ads for nappies where the baby should repeat "hard, hard to be wet," Claude came up with the idea of using dance music and simple lyrics to create a catchy song. The song received positive reception in discotheques which convinced him to release it as a commercial single.
Jordy's first single, "Dur dur d'être bébé!" [or "It's Tough to Be a Baby" in English] was released in September of 1992. By October, the song topped the French SNEP Singles Chart, making him the youngest singer to ever reach the top of a singles charts as listed in the Guinness Book of World Records.

The song also topped the charts in Belgium, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Greece, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea, Indonesia, the Ivory Coast, Mexico, and Argentina. When the single was released in the US a year later, it managed to peak at #58 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Jordy released his debut album, "Pochette Surprise" [or "Surprise Package" in English]. The album peaked at #7 on the SNEP Albums Chart in France and by 1993, it was certified 2x Platinum, selling over 600,000 copies.

He released two more singles, "Alison" and "Les Boules," but it's unknown how or if those singles ever charted.

In 1994, Jordy released his second album, "Potion Magique" which consisted mostly of Christmas songs. It's unknown how or if the album was successful, but it didn't appear to match the success of his debut album. He released the singles, "It's Christmas, C'est Noel" and "Love Love Dance," but it's unknown how they charted.

Then, there were some disturbing allegations that Jordy was being exploited for commercial gain, and his music was banned from television & radio for his own good.

Under the ban, Jordy's third album, "Récréation" went nowhere. The single "Coolman" was released, but it's unknown if it charted or not. In 1996, Jordy's parents opened up a children's tourist attraction called La Ferme de Jordy [or Jordy's Farm], but it suffered from financial difficulties and was eventually shut down.

Jordy's parents later divorced and Jordy became legally emancipated, living on a farm near Caen for the rest of his teenage years, studying dance and drumming.

In 2005, Jordy appeared on a popular French reality show called "La Ferme Des Célébrités" and published his own book called "Je ne suis plus un bébé" [or "I'm Not a Baby Anymore" in English] in which he accused his father of spending most of the royalties he made that he should've gotten when he turned 18 years old.

In 2006, Jordy released a new single called "Je T'apprendrai." Today, Jordy is currently in a band called Jordy & the Dixies. They continue to tour and release music.

Eternal

Eternal was a female English R&B group that consisted of sisters Easther & Vernie Bennett, Kelle Bryan [born on March 12, 1975 in Lewisham, London, England], and Louise Nurding [born on November 4, 1974 in Lewisham, London, England].

When Kelle Bryan was 11 years old, she joined the Italia Conti Academy stage school, completing eight years of performing arts and she was qualified as a dance teacher. Before Eternal, Kelle worked as an actress, appearing on ITV's "The Bill" and appearing on the hit BBC show, "EastEnders" in 1992.

On her first day at Italia Conti, Kelle met Louise Nurding and became close friends. One night, when 16-year-old Kelle and Louise were illegally clubbing one night, they met record producer Denis Ingoldsby, who was starting a girl group. By 1993, Kelle, Louise, Easther, and Vernie formed Eternal.
On September 20, 1993, Eternal released their debut single, "Stay" which peaked at #4 on the UK Singles chart. When the single was released in the US in March of 1994, it peaked at #19 on the Billboard Hot 100, #9 on Billboard's Rhythmic Top 40, #13 on Billboard's R&B chart, #12 on Billboard's Hot Dance Music\Club Play chart, #33 on Billboard's Hot Dance Music\Maxi-Singles Sales chart, and #11 on Billboard's Top 40 Mainstream. The song was also successful in Australia, peaking at #3 on the ARIA charts and topped the charts in Japan.
On November 29, 1993, Eternal released their debut album, "Always & Forever." The album peaked at #2 on the UK Albums chart and was certified 4x Platinum by the BPI, selling over 1.2 million copies. When the album was released in the US in 1994, it peaked at #152 on the Billboard 200, #59 on Billboard's R&B Albums chart, and #5 on Billboard's Heatseekers album chart.
Eternal's second single, "Save Our Love" peaked at #8 on the UK Singles chart for 7 weeks and #20 on the Irish Singles chart.
Their third single, "Just a Step From Heaven" also peaked at #8 on the UK Singles chart, spending 10 weeks on the chart and #26 on the Irish Singles chart.
The group's fourth single, "So Good" peaked at #13 on the UK Singles chart, making it the first of Eternal's three singles to miss the Top 10 on the UK Singles chart.
Eternal's fifth single, "Oh Baby I" peaked at #4 on the UK Singles chart and #11 on the Irish Singles chart. The song spent 7 weeks in the UK Top 20 and #13 weeks on the UK Top 75 chart. The song was certified Silver by the BPI on January 1, 1995, with sales over 200,000 within the UK.
The last single released from the album, "Crazy" peaked at #15 on the UK Singles chart and #23 on the Irish Singles chart. This was the only single where all members of Eternal sang lead vocals. [Usually, it was Easther Bennett singing lead vocals.]

Another song from Eternal's debut album, "Sweet Funky Thing" peaked at #54 on Billboard's R&B charts in the US. It's unknown how much airplay the song got in the UK. Eternal was named "Best Group" at the Smash Hits Poll Winners Party and were nominated for 4 Brit awards. By 1995, Louise left Eternal to pursue her solo music career.
In 1995, Eternal released their sophomore album, "Power of a Woman" which peaked at #5 on the UK Albums chart.
The first single, the title song peaked at #5 on the UK Singles chart, #19 on the Irish Singles chart, #8 on the ARIA Charts, and #1 in Japan. The song was also moderately successful in the Netherlands and Israel. Eternal scored yet another #1 hit in Japan with the single, "Who Are You."
Eternal's second single from the album, "I Am Blessed" peaked at #7 on the UK Singles chart and was certified Silver. The song also peaked at #7 on the Irish Singles chart, #14 on the ARIA Charts, and #29 in the Netherlands.
A remixed version of "Good Thing" peaked at #8 on the UK Singles chart. The song became their 7th Top 10 single on the UK Singles chart.
In 1996, Eternal contributed the theme song to the Disney movie, "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" soundtrack, "Someday" which peaked at #4 on the UK Singles chart. Another single, "Secrets" peaked at #9 on the UK Singles chart.
In 1997, Eternal released their third album, "Before the Rain" which peaked at #3 on the UK Albums chart and was certified Platinum, selling over 300,000 copies.
The single, "Don't You Love Me" peaked at #3 on the UK Singles chart and was moderately successful in Australia & Ireland.
Eternal scored their first and only #1 hit with the last single from the album, "I Wanna Be the Only One" featuring gospel singer BeBe Winans. The song was successful internationally and even certified Gold in Australia & Switzerland. It was also the 3rd most played song on British radio and the most played song on European radio by a UK act in 1997. The song even earned Eternal a a MOBO Award and a Capital FM Award for "Best Single." It was also nominated for "Best Single" at the BRIT Awards.
When Eternal released their greatest hits album during that same year, Kelle Bryan was controversially kicked out of the group by the Bennett sisters via fax from their solicitor due to "a breakdown in professional communications." Soon after, Kelle signed a record deal with Mercury Records and began to work on her solo debut album. She scored a moderate hit on the UK charts with the song, "Higher Than Heaven," but when Kelle was diagnosed with lupus, she decided to leave the label, leaving her debut album unreleased.
One of the singles from Eternal's greatest hits album, "Angel of Mine" peaked at #4 on the UK Singles chart. In the US in 1998, R&B singer Monica covered "Angel of Mine" which topped the Billboard Hot 100. Easther and Vernie recruited a new member, TJ, who later left after a matter of days.
In 1999, Eternal released their last self-titled album which peaked at #87 on the UK Albums chart.
They released only one single, "What'cha Gonna Do" which peaked at #16 on the UK Singles chart. Three more singles: "Treat Me Like a Lady," "I Cry Real Tears," and "If She Breaks Your Heart" were scheduled to be released, but the plans were cancelled due to the Bennett sisters deciding it was time to move on to other projects. In 2000, Eternal parted ways with their record label.

While Kelle concentrated on recovering from lupus, she did some various projects and even launched a management company, Red Hot Entertainment. In 2004, she starred on a celebrity edition of "The Weakest Link." She was also a contestant in the reality show, "Love Island 2006," starred in the music comedy, "The X-tra Factor," and starred in the film, "A Heart Divided." Since 2005, Kelle has been performing in 6 pantomines.

Louise Nurding scored a string of Top 10 singles and albums in the UK along with doing various projects. In 1998, she married football player, Jamie Redknapp. Louise has also presented a few television shows such as "SMTV Live," "CD:UK," "The Clothes Show," "Something for the Weekend," and the UK version of "So You Think You Can Dance." In 2004, Louise gave birth to her first son, Charles "Charley" William Redknapp and in 2008, she gave birth to her second son, Beau Henry Redknapp.

As for the Bennett sisters, Easther partnered up with reggae music band, Aswad to record a cover version of Diana King's "Shy Guy" in 2002, but she is now a songwriter, writing songs for various artists such as Girls Aloud. Vernie went back to studying law after Eternal split up and in 2006, she gave birth to her first child. In August of 2010, Vernie signed to ASM Artist Management.

NKRU [which stands for Naughty Kreations R Unifed] were a female hip-hop\R&B music quartet from the early 90's. Not much information is given about them, but they were signed to the Kyper Records label on RCA Records.
In 1993, they released a cover version of Zapp's "Computer Love." It's unknown how it charted. Another single, "Sies Nueve" was released, but didn't chart.

NKRU were planning on releasing their debut album, "Freaky To You," but from what I've discovered, it was never released and after that, it seemed as if NKRU faded into obscurity.

Strawberri

In 1998, Strawberri released her debut single, "Saddle Me Up" which peaked at #59 on Billboard's Hot R&B\Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart, but failed to make the Billboard Hot 100.

A year later in 1999, Strawberri released her one and only debut album, "Nothing Better" which didn't appear to peak at all on the charts. The follow-up single, "Secret" peaked at #96 on Billboard's Hot R&B\Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart. After that, it seemed as if Strawberri has faded into obscurity.

New Born

New Born [born Sammy Stanford Jr from Philadelphia, Pennyslvania] is a hip-hop rapper who started out in the music biz when he was only 7 years old. He is also gifted in dancing and playing the drums. He was discovered by music producer Jeff Steinberg. His father, Sam Stanford [who worked in the car detailing business] took Steinberg to see New Born and his siblings perform. He was offered a record deal with Arista Records, but the family decided to sign to a smaller record label.

In 1993, New Born released his debut single, "Falling in Love" which managed to peak on the Billboard Hot 100 at #97. His siblings Keisha & Mike provided background vocals on the song, and Mike also played bass guitar on the song as well. Keisha also played keyboard on the song as well.

After that, nothing much had been heard from New Born, but according to a YouTube comment I received from Sam Stanford Sr, New Born is now MIF [which stands for Music Industry Finest] and is still active in the music biz.

Young & Restless

Young & Restless was a hip-hop duo from the early 90's whose members consisted of Leonerist Lamar Johnson and Charles V. Trahan. In 1990, the duo released their debut album, "Something To Get You Hyped" which peaked at #104 on the Billboard 200 and #28 on Billboard's R&B Albums chart.
Their first single, "Poison Ivy" peaked at #8 on Billboard's Hot Rap Singles chart and #76 on Billboard's Hot R&B\Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart.
Their second single, " 'B' Girls" became a hit for Young & Restless which peaked at #54 on the Billboard Hot 100, #58 on Billboard's Hot R&B\Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart, and #4 on Billboard's Hot Rap Singles chart.
In 1992, Young & Restless released their sophomore and last album to date, "That Was Then-This is Now!" which didn't chart at all and after that, it seemed as if Young & Restless had faded into obscurity.

G-Wiz

G-Wiz was a hip-hop group from the 90's that consisted of members Jamahl "Jamiz" Harris, Craig "Rascal" Cummins, Ron "Farve" Martin, and Kevin "Tricky" Williams. In 1993, G-Wiz released their only album, "Naughty Bits" on Scotti Bros. Records. It's unknown how or if the album ever charted.
Their first single and hit song to date, "Teddy Bear" managed to peak at #73 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #29 on Billboard's Rhythmic Top 40 chart.
The follow-up singles, "Come & Play With Me" and "Y-U-Doggin' Me?" didn't appear to make much impact on the charts. After that, it seemed as if G-Wiz has faded into obscurity.

M.C. Brains

M.C. Brains [born James Davis, although some sources have it as James De Shannon on May 24, 1974 from Cleveland, Ohio] was a male hip-hop rapper from the early 90's. He was signed to Motown Records by New Edition member Michael Bivins. His name stands for "bringing raps and instrumentals non stop."
In 1992, M.C. Brains released his debut album, "LoversLane" which peaked at #47 on the Billboard 200 and #31 on Billboard's R&B Albums chart. He was only 17 years old when he released his first album.
His first single, "Brainstorming" peaked at #69 on the Billboard Hot 100, #19 on Billboard's Rap Singles chart, and #29 on Billboard's Hot R&B\Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart. Boyz II Men provided the background vocals for the song.
The second single, "Everybody's Talking About M.C. Brains" didn't chart on the Hot 100 or R&B charts, but managed to peak at #23 on Billboard's Hot Rap Singles chart.
The last single and M.C. Brains' well-known and highest chart appearance to date, "Oochie Coochie" peaked at #21 on the Billboard Hot 100, #16 on Billboard's Hot R&B\Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart, and topped Billboard's Hot Rap Singles chart.
In 1996, M.C. Brains released his sophomore album, "Brainwashed" on Ichiban Records. The album flopped and after that, it seemed as if M.C. Brains had faded into obscurity. Nothing much has been heard from him in quite some time.

Nick Scotti [born Domenico Nicola Aniello Scotti on May 31, 1966 in Ozone Park, Queens, New York] is a singer, actor, and model. After leaving high school, Nick decided to travel the world to become a model. He moved to Japan when he was 17 and to France when he was 19. During this process, Nick became a popular male model.
In 1993, Nick released his one and only self-titled debut album on Reprise Records. It's unknown how or if the album ever charted.
Nick's cover version of Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes' song, "Wake Up Everybody" managed to peak at #9 on Billboard's Hot Dance Music\Club Play chart and #19 on Billboard's Hot Dance Music\Maxi-Singles Sales chart. The song was on the charts for 11 weeks.
Another single, "Get Over" peaked at #33 on Billboard's Hot Dance Music\Club Play chart. The song was written by Madonna & Steven Bray, and also produced by Madonna & Shep Pettibone.

After that, Nick went to pursue an acting career. He starred as Antonio "Tony" Viscardi on the soap opera, "The Young and the Restless" from 1996 to 1999. In June of 1996, Nick appeared on the cover of "Newsweek" magazine.

In 1997, Nick starred in the independent film, "Kiss Me Guido" and also starred in the movies, "Bullet," "Perception," "The Last Request," and "Detroit Rock City." He also guest-starred on episodes of "Sex in the City" and "Tracey Takes On." In 2004, Nick hosted his own cooking, fashion, and lifestyle television show on the Style Network called "New York Nick."

Little Shawn (from New York) was a male hip-hop musician from the 90's. He was also a ghostwriter for artists on the Uptown Records and Bad Boy Records music labels.

L.A. Dream Team were a hip-hop group from Los Angeles, California. They are known for being one of the early hip-hop music acts on the West Coast and one of the pioneers of the West Coast "electro-hop" music scene.

The group was formed in the early 80's by Rudy Pardee (from Cleveland, Ohio) and Chris Wilson (a Los Angeles native). They formed their own record label, Dream Team Records, releasing their own records and records from other California rap musicians.
Their best known early singles were "The Dream Team is in The House" and "Rockberry Jam" featuring musician Lisa "Miss Rockberry" Love. They even released J.J. Fad's very first single. In 1986, they signed to MCA Records.
During that same year, L.A. Dream Team released their debut album, "Kings of the West Coast" which peaked at #27 on Billboard's R&B Albums chart.
Their single, "The Dream Team is in the House!" peaked at #24 on Billboard's Hot Dance Music\Club Play Singles chart and #36 on Billboard's Hot R&B\Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart.

The other follow-up singles that were released didn't make the same impact as "The Dream Team is in the House." In 1987, they were featured on the "Police Academy 4" movie soundtrack with the song, "Citizens on Patrol" featuring "Police Academy" star, Michael Winslow.
In 1987, L.A. Dream Team released their sophomore album, "Bad to the Bone" which peaked at #162 on the Billboard 200 chart. It's unknown how or if it charted on the R&B albums chart. The singles released from the album didn't make any impact.
In 1989, L.A. Dream Team released their last album to date, "Back to Black" which flopped and with "electro-hop" fading away and gangsta rap music making mainstream impact, the L.A. Dream Team had seemingly faded away into obscurity.

But in 1993, they resurfaced under the name "TPD" and issued a few singles included an updated version of "Rockberry Jam," but it didn't last long. After that, Chris Wilson went on to pursue music and video production. In 1998, Rudy Pardee tragically died in a scuba-diving accident.

Sofia Shinas (born on January 17, 1968 in Windsor, Ontario, Canada) is a singer\actress who started her career in the 90's.
In 1992, Sofia released her self-titled debut album. It's unknown how or if the album ever charted. David was known for wearing purple shorts onstage with the word "Funk Ass" written on them while Duncan was known for playing a big portable synthesizer with double keyboards. They called their musical style "Street Latin Wolff." They founded Blue Mercedes in 1984.
In 1988, Blue Mercedes released their one and only album, "Rich And Famous" which peaked at #165 on the Billboard 200. It failed to chart in the UK, but managed to chart at #25 on the New Zealand Albums chart.

Crush was a pop British duo that originally consisted of singer\actresses Donna Air (born on August 2, 1979 in Newcastle-upon-Tyme, England) and Jayni Hoy.
Donna and Jayni (along with singer\actress Vicky Taylor) starred on the British soap opera, "Byker Groove!" and they released a single, "Love Your Sexy!" in 1994. After that, Donna and Jayni renamed themselves "Crush."

In 1996, Crush released their first album, "Teenage Kicks" on Telestar Records. The album was shelved in the UK, but released in Japan. They released the single, "Jellyhead" which received moderate success at first.

After the success of their first single, US record label Robbins Entertainment wanted to sign Crush to their label. By then, Jayni Hoy had left Crush and was replaced by Luciana Caporaso (born on June 23, 1977 in London, England). Luciana had already released an album, "One More River" in 1994. New songs were re-recorded with Luciana for Crush's new album were recorded while some of the songs from their "Teenage Kicks" album were remixed.
In 1997, Crush's US debut album was released. It's unknown how or if the album ever charted. When "Jellyhead" was released in the US, it peaked at #72 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #43 on Billboard's Hot Dance Music\Maxi-Singles Sales chart. The song was also successful in Canada.

Their follow-up singles, "Luv'd Up" and "Love's Hold" failed to make any impact on the chart. After that, Crush broke up, going their separate ways. Donna Air focused on modeling and acting. In 2003, Donna gave birth to a daughter, Freya Air Aspinall with her ex-fiance, Damian Aspinall. Donna appeared on ITV's "Marco's Kitchen Burnout" and "Heston Blumenthal’s Gastronomic Adventure" testing out her cooking skills.

Today, Donna works closely with the Soil Foundation and explores areas of health, beauty, and fashion. Luciana Caporoso continued working in the music biz and in 2008, she released her second album, "Featuring Luciana."

Yasmin (born Yasmin Elvira Steenholdt from Denmark) is a female singer. In the late 80's, Yasmin worked with Danish music producers Soulshock & Cutfather on her debut album.
In 1991, Yasmin released her debut album, "Slow" (in the US, it was released as self-titled). It's unknown how or if the album was successful.
She released her first single, "Wanna Dance" which managed to peak on the Billboard Top 50 (according to the Isle of Deserted Pop Stars) and was successful in the dance clubs. The single even won a Danish Grammy Award.
Two more singles: "Sacrfice" and "Emotion (Turning Me Up)" were released, but failed to make any impact on the charts.
In 1993, Yasmin released her sophomore album, "A Scent of Flowers" which was released only in Denmark and the Netherlands. Today, Yasmin and her husband, Asger Steenholdt are now a duo jazz\soul\electronica music act called, Aphrodesia. They released an album in 2004.

The College Boyz were a hip-hop group from the 90's that consisted of members R.O.M (born Romany Malco Jr on November 18, 1968 in Brooklyn, New York), Squeak, Humphry, and DJ Cue. The group's name was originally called RGM before they decided to change it to the College Boyz. They were signed to Virgin and Capitol Records.
In 1992, The College Boyz released their debut album, "Radio Fusion Radio" which peaked at #118 on the Billboard 200, #25 on Billboard's R&B Albums chart, and #2 on Billboard's Heatseekers album chart.
The College Boyz's biggest hit to date was the single, "Victim of the Ghetto" which peaked at #68 on the Billboard Hot 100, #28 on Billboard's Hot R&B\Hip Hop Singles & Tracks chart and Billboard's Hot Dance Music\Maxi-Singles Sales chart, and #4 on Billboard's Rap Singles chart.
The next single, "Hollywood Paradox" didn't chart on the Billboard Hot 100, but managed to peak at #10 on Billboard's Hot Rap Singles chart and #65 on Billboard's Hot R&B\Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart.
The last single released from the album, "Humpin" also didn't chart on the Billboard Hot 100, but managed to peak at #14 on Billboard's Hot Rap Singles chart.
In 1994, The College Boyz released their second and last album to date, "Nuttin' Less Nuttin' Mo" which peaked at #80 on Billboard's R&B Albums chart, but failed to make it to the Billboard 200.
The only single from the album to chart was "Rollin" which peaked at #49 on Billboard's Hot Rap Singles chart, but failed to make it to the Billboard Hot 100 or R&B charts at all. After that, the College Boyz broke up and went their separate ways.

Romany Malco (or R.O.M.) went on to a successful acting career and currently stars on the ABC series, "No Ordinary Family" with actors Michael Chiklis and Julie Benz. It's unknown what the other members of the College Boyz are up to these day.

Geri Logan (born Geraldine Juanita Gonzalez from South Central Los Angeles, California) is a female musician. Geri performed in a few bands during the 70's. In the early 80's, she met music producer Hadley Morell, who was able to get Geri a recording contract with MCA Records.

In 1982, Geri released her one and only album for MCA Records called "Come and Get It." The album didn't appear to chart on the Billboard charts at all. The album consisted mostly of R&B songs and according to Geri, the label thought Geri was a good R&B singer, but she didn't sound "black enough" nor "white enough." (Go figure.)

After that, Geri left MCA Records and during the late 90's, she had several music releases on the independent record label, Our Town Records. During that time, Geri had changed the spelling of her first name to "Geree." In 1995, Geree released the album, "Reflections of Love." Two years later in 1997, Geree released a 4-song EP and in 1999, she released her second album, "Through These Eyes." Later on, Geree focused on Christian music and singing in church. In the early 2000's, Geree was in a band called Smooth, but now she has a new band called Geree and the Groove and they continue to perform today.

Rockers Revenge

Rockers Revenge were a dance music act put together by music producer Arthur Baker. The members were Donnie Calvin, Dwight Hawkes, and Tina B (who is also mentioned on the blog and married to Arthur Baker).
In 1982, Rockers Revenge scored their first charting hit with the single, "Walkin' on Sunshine" (a cover version of reggae singer Eddy Grant's 1979 song) which topped the dance charts and peaked at #63 on Billboard's R&B Singles chart.
Their second charting single, "The Harder They Come" peaked at #13 on Billboard's Hot Dance Music\Club Play Singles chart. Rockers Revenge released two more singles: "Living For the Weekend" and "Sunshine Partytime."

After that, Tina B. went on to a moderate solo dance music career. Dwight Hawkes provided vocals on various dance music singles, but he has since faded into obscurity. Rockers Revenge's song, "Battle Cry" was featured in the movie, "Beat Street" and featured on the soundtrack as well. In 1988, Rockers Revenge's song, "Love is On Our Side" appeared on a house music compliation album called "Rough House, Vol 1." As for Donnie Calvin, it's unknown what he is up to these days and has seemingly faded into obscurity also.

West Street Mob

West Street Mob were an R&B\rap from the 80's that consisted of members Bill McGee, Joey Robinson Jr, and Sabrina Gillison. They were signed to Sugar Hill Records. Prior to West Street Mob, Bill McGhee was in a band called Hellaphenalia and did various music projects. Joey Robinson Jr. is the son of Sugar Hill Records founder and musician, Sylvia Robinson.
In 1981, they released their self-titled debut album which peaked at #56 on Billboard's R&B Albums chart. The first single from the album, "Let's Dance (Make Your Move)" peaked at #88 on the Billboard Hot 100, #22 on Billboard's Hot Dance Music\Club Play chart, and #18 on Billboard's R&B Singles chart.

The song became the trio's highest appearance on the Billboard Hot 100 to date. Another single, "Gotta Give It Up" was also released a single, but didn't appear to chart at all on the Billboard charts.

In 1982, West Street Mob released the single, "Ooh Baby" which managed to peak at #55on Billboard's R&B Singles chart. During that same year, they released "Sing a Simple Song" which peaked at #89 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #44 on Billboard's R&B Singles chart.
In 1983, West Street Mob released their second and last album to date, "Break Dance (Electric Boogie)" which didn't appear to make any impact on the charts unlike their debut album.

The title song managed to peak at #37 on Billboard's R&B Singles chart and #52 on Billboard's Hot Dance Music\Club Play Singles chart. Another single from the album, "Rock the Party" was also released, but didn't make any impact on the charts.

West Street Mob released two more singles in 1984: "I Can't Stop" and "Mosquito" before fading into obscurity. Sabrina Gillson provided vocals for musician Duke Bootee's 1984 "Bust Me Out" album and was featured on David Grant's 1985 album, "Hopes and Dreams" on the duet, "Take My Heart." Her last music appearance to date was doing background vocals on Seven Windows' song, "Shakey's Got the Blues" in 1986.

Bill McGhee continues to work on various music projects, but he is also a jazz musician and school adminstrator. In 2006, Bill released a jazz album, "Chase the Sunset."

cc: DIVA was a pop\electronic duo that consisted of singer Natalie Bonelli and instrumentalist & producer, Nayan. The duo's name stood for "Coat Check Diva" from when Natalie was a coat check girl before starting her music career.

In 1988, cc: DIVA released their debut and only album, "Yowusupwidat?" which didn't appear to make an impact on the Billboard charts. The single, "Searchin' For" peaked at #8 on Billboard's Hot Dance Music\Club Play chart.
The follow-up singles "I'll Always Follow You," "I'm Gonna Get To You," and a cover version of the Friends of Distinction's hit song, "Grazin' in the Grass," but the three latter singles failed to make any impact on the charts.
After, that it seemed as if cc: DIVA faded into obscurity, but today, Natalie Bonelli has a MySpace page and continues to be active in the music biz. She contributed the song, "Letting Go" to the "Dawson's Creek" television soundtrack.

In 2004, Natalie began recording an album with musician Sir David Minehan and she formed a makeup company called Personatalie with her friend, Nancy. As for Nayan, he did writing and production work on a few singles during the late 80's\early 90's, but nothing has been heard from him since 1994.

Super Wolf (born James A. Wolf from Jackson, Tennessee) was a hip-hop\rap musician from the 80's. He was known for having one of the first hit songs in rap history. In 1980, Super Wolf released his first single, "Superwolf Can Do It" which became a regional hit and one of the first rap songs to become a hit.
Super Wolf released three more singles: "Get Up and Pay Your Funk Bills" in
1981, "Hooked on the Rap" in 1983, and his last single to date, "Ego Tripping" in 1985.

Hinton Battle

Hinton Battle (born on November 29, 1956 in Neubrücke, Rhineland-Palatinate, West Germany) is a singer, actor, choreographer, and dancer. Before starting his short-lived music career, Hinton started his career as an actor in television, movies, and most recognizably, musicals in which he won 3 Tony Awards.
In 1986, Hinton signed to Quest Records and released his only album, “Untapped” which featured the song, “Super Cautious Girl.” The album was produced by John Brown who had seen Hinton perform in the musical version of “Dreamgirls” and another musical, “The Tap Dance Kid.” John had originally tried to sign Hinton to MCA Records, but when it didn’t work out, they signed to Quest Records instead. In order to promote his album, Hinton turned down two musicals, but the album didn’t seem to attract commercial success.

After that, Hinton continued to act, dance, and choreograph. Hinton choreographed promos for Warner Brothers, commercials for Coca-Cola, Chicago The Millie and New York Top Appliances, and even served as an associate choreographer on the 65th and 66th Annual Academy Awards with Debbie Allen.

Hinton was also the co-director and choreographer of the off-Broadway musical “Evil Dead: The Musical.” Recently, Hinton created a dance form called Swop which is swing and hip-hop combined, and it was performed on “Dancing With the Stars” in 2006. During that same year, Hinton also starred in the movie version of “Dreamgirls.”

The Suttons

Mike and Brenda Sutton (also known as the Suttons) are singers and songwriters from Los Angeles, California. They first worked together as staff writers and singers for Motown Records in the early 70's.

During that period, Mike and Brenda wrote songs for the late Michael Jackson, Jermaine Jackson, Three Ounces of Love, Smokey Robinson, Dionne Warwick, Thelma Houston, and Jerry Butler. While at Motown, Brenda sang background vocals on Thelma Houston's "Don't Leave Me This Way" while she and Mike wrote & performed as part of a music act called Finished Touch in 1979.

When they were away from Motown Records, Mike and Brenda wrote and produced songs for Cheryl Lynn, The Detroit Spinners, Anita Pointer, Cheryl Lynn, and Jr Tucker. As artists in their own right, Brenda and Mike wrote and produced the songs: "We'll Make It" and "Don't Let Go of Me."
In 1982, The Suttons released their first album, "Don't Hold Back" on Sam Records. It's unknown how or if the album was successful.
In 1984, The Suttons released their second album, "So Good" on Rocshire Records. It's unknown how or if the album was successful. Nothing was heard from the Suttons until 1990, when they recorded a song, "No Other Love" for the UK record label, Motorcity.
Now separated, Mike worked with Brenda on his solo album, "Hopeless Romantic" in 2002 which was released on Little Dizzy Records.

N Phase

N Phase were an R&B group from the 90's that consisted of members Melvin Baxter, Tevlin Williamson, Marlon Davis, Al Boyd, and Donnie Mays. Melvin, Tevlin, and Marlon originally sang as an a-capella trio in clubs in their hometown of Rock Hill, South Carolina in 1991. The following year, they met Al and Donny, and started N Phase.

After N Phase became local favorites, they made demo tapes and started shopping around for a record label. When a radio station in Washington, DC, WPCG started playing their song, "Ooh Yeah!" and the hype of the song reached Maverick Records, they were signed to the label.
In 1994, N Phase released their self-titled debut album which peaked at #27 on Billboard's Heatseekers Albums chart and #58 on Billboard's R&B Albums chart. Their album was produced by R. Kelly.
N Phase's highest chart appearance to date was the single, "Spend the Night" which peaked at #23 on Billboard's Hot R&B\Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart. Their follow-up single, a cover version of the Manhattans' "Kiss and Say Goodbye" peaked at a low #78 on Billboard's Hot R&B\Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart.
After that, they had seemingly faded into obscurity, but in 2007, N Phase released a gospel album, "The Time's Right Now" which is now available on CD Baby and iTunes.

Guesss were an R&B duo from the early 90's. Not much information is given about them, but they were signed to Warner Bros. Records. In 1994, they released their one and only self-titled album which peaked at #63 on Billboard's R&B Albums chart and #38 on Billboard's Heatseekers Albums chart.
Their first single, "It's You I Need" peaked at #49 on Billboard's Hot R&B\Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart.

Their second single, "Tell Me Where It Hurts" fared better, peaking at #45 on Billboard's Hot R&B\Hip-Hop Singles chart, making it their only highest appearance on the R&B charts. The last single, "Shu-B" peaked at #51 on Billboard's Hot R&B\Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart. After that, they had seemed to have faded into obscurity. Nothing much has been heard from them since.

Sweet N Lo'

Sweet N Lo' were a female hip-hop\rap duo consisting of Georgette "Sweet" Franklin and Lori "Lo" Esteen. Not much information is given on them, but they only released one album.
In 1993, Sweet N Lo' released their debut album, "Pucker Up" on Atlantic Records. It's unknown how or if the album ever charted. Their only chart appearance was the single, "40 Dog" which peaked at #60 on Billboard's Hot R&B\Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart.

After that, not much was heard from them and they had seemingly faded into obscurity. Georgette Franklin was last involved in songwriting, even writing Jennifer Lopez's 2001 hit song, "Love Don't Cost a Thing." As for Lori Esteen, she went into group management after Sweet N Lo' s debut album.

On January 16, 1996, Lori, her boyfriend, Thomas Blinco, and her friend, Diana Davis were found shot to death in Jefferson Park, Los Angeles, California. Lori was only
26 years old at the time of her death.

The Rainbow Girls

I decided to do a post about this obscure girl group after it was posted on "The Isle of Deserted Pop Stars." It was so interesting, I just had to add them to the blog.

The Rainbow Girls were a girl group from the early 90's. Not much information is given on them, but one of the members was Lisa "Anishja" McClean and she co-wrote practically all the songs on their one and only album.
In 1990, The Rainbow Girls released their only album, "Girls' Life" which didn't appear to chart at all on the Billboard charts.

Their first single, "Make Your Move 4 Love" didn't appear to chart at all and the album title which was released as the second single didn't go anywhere on the charts either.

In 1991, The Rainbow Girls released the single, "Dudes on the Beach" which also didn't go anywhere and soon after, they had faded into obscurity. Neither myself or "The Isle of Deserted Pop Stars" have any idea yet what the members of the Rainbow Girls are up to these days, but the Rainbow Girls' album is available on iTunes.

Gigi on the Beach

Gigi on the Beach were a pop music act in 1989. According to the "Isle of Deserted Pop Stars" blog, the members were Terri Smith Young, Paula Gallo, and Beth Barrett. They released only one album and then faded into obscurity. During 1989, they released their self-titled debut album on Scotti Bros. Records. The album didn't appear to chart all on the Billboard charts.

They released two singles, "Bitch Me Out" and "Friday Night in the U.S.A." which appeared to go nowhere on the charts as well as the album and after they have faded into obscurity. Nothing much has been heard from them.

Az-1 were an R&B\rap group from the 90's that consisted of members Shawn Harris, Jeff Gill, Martin Kember, and LA Drake. They were one of the first new jack swing groups trying to make a name for themselves in the music biz.
In 1992, they released their self-titled debut album on Scotti Bros. Records which didn't appear to chart at all on the Billboard charts.
Their first single, "Trust in Me" peaked at #50 on Billboard's Hot R&B\Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart, making it their highest appearance on the chart to date. Az-1's follow-up single, "With You" peaked at #71 on Billboard's Hot R&B\Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart. After Scotti Bros. Records changed hands, Az-1 got lost within the shuffle.

After that, Jeff Gill worked on Magic Johnson's record label and worked with R&B singer, Avant. Martin Kember went on to work as a producer for the late 2Pac and started his own solo music career, releasing an album in 1999. LA Drake works in the Atlanta, Georgia music scene. As for Shawn Harris, he has left the music biz and now works as a mortgage broker in New York City.

Pure Soul were an all-girl R&B quartet from the 90's. Not much information is given on them, but they were signed to Interscope Records. In 1995, Pure Sugar released their self-titled debut album, which peaked at #173 on the Billboard 200 and #33 on Billboard's R&B Albums chart.
Their first single, "We Must Be in Love" which peaked at #65 on the Billboard
Hot 100, #22 on Billboard's Hot Dance Music\Maxi-Single Sales chart, and #11 on Billboard's Hot R&B\Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart. The song became their biggest hit to date.
Pure Soul released their second single from the album, "I Want You Back" which peaked at #101 on the Billboard Hot 100, #36 on Billboard's Hot Dance Music\Maxi-Singles Sales chart, and #26 on Billboard's Hot R&B\Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart. The video became the top 5 most played video on the BET Network. The single was produced by well-known music producer, Teddy Riley.

Pure Soul was featured on the single, "Freedom" which was featured on the "Panther" movie soundtrack. The song featured artists such as Aaliyah, MC Lyte, Mary J. Blige, Blackgirl, Tyler Collins, En Vogue, Jade, Queen Latifah, Monica, Pebbles, SWV, Tracie Spencer, Sweet Sable, TLC, Crystal Waters, Karyn White, Y?NVee, and Zhane.
The last single from the album, "Stairway to Heaven" which was released in 1996. The song managed to peak at #79 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #18 on Billboard's Hot R&B\Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart. A radio remix version of the song featured legendary R&B group, the O'Jays. After that, nothing much has been heard from Pure Soul and they've seem to have faded into obscurity.

Oscar was a female R&B group from the 90's that consisted of members Sally Ries, Debbie Lewis, Hiromi Kuroiwa and Kia Jeffries.
In 1992, Oscar released their only album, "Spotlight" on Epic Records which didn't appear to chart at all on the Billboard charts.
Their first single, "I'm Calling You (Do-Po-Liddle-La-Le-Yeah!)" was a minor hit on the Billboard R&B charts, but it only reached the lower half of the charts.
Oscar's follow-up single, "Keep Touchin' Me" was also a minor charting hit on the R&B charts. The single was only released as a promo and after that, it seemed as if they've faded into obscurity.

According to the Isle of Deserted Pop Stars blog, Kia Jeffries was featured on rapper Akinyele's 1996 song, "Put it In Your Mouth" and was later part of another short-lived R&B girl group, 4Kast (which is also featured on the blog). Kia went on to do songwriting and producing. Today, Kia goes under the name "Babydoll" and is pursuing a solo music career of her own. As for the other members of the group, it's unknown what they're up to and has faded into obscurity.

In 1993, they released their only album, "Whole New Head" on Capitol Records which failed to make the charts at all. Their album was heavily produced by singer Christopher Williams. The single, "Love Me Right" failed to chart at all. Overall, the album was a commercial failure and after that, nothing much has been heard from them. They have seemingly faded into obscurity.

Christion are a male R&B duo from the mid-90's that originally consisted of Kenni Ski and his brother, Allen Anthony. They were the first R&B music act to sign to Jay-Z's record label, Roc-A-Fella Records and featured on two Roc-A-Fella Records soundtracks.

In 1996, Christion released their first single, "Full of Smoke" which peaked at #53 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #15 on Billboard's Hot R&B\Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart, making it their biggest hit to date. The success of the single led them to a record deal with Def Jam Records.
A year later in 1997, they released their debut album, "Ghetto Cyrano" which peaked at #146 on the Billboard 200, #23 on Billboard's R&B Albums chart, and #4 on Billboard's Heatseekers albums chart.
Their second single, "Bring Back Your Love" was a moderate hit, peaking only at #67 on Billboard's Hot R&B\Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart and failed to chart on the Billboard Hot 100 at all.
Christion's last single from the album, "I Wanna Get Next To You" peaked at #86 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #32 on Billboard's Hot R&B\Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart.

During the duo's hiatus, they appeared on the 2000 movie, "Backstage" soundtrack and on a Roc-A-Fella Records compliation album in 2003. Kenni has produced music for Aftermath Records and musicians DJ Clue, Sky Balla, Frank Stickums, Young Jet, En Vogue's Dawn Robinson, and many more artists including his brother, Allen. He has worked on numerous television and film projects.
In 2005, Christion released their sophomore album, "Project Plato" on Kenni Ski's record label, The Mint Records. Musician T-Ross is now part of Christon after Allen left to start his own solo career. They are planning on a new album "Project Plato: The Rebirth" which was supposed to be released in 2009, but as of this year, it's unknown if it's been released yet.

Willie Max was a female R&B group consisting of sisters Rose, Sky, and Lyric Smith from Detroit, Michigan. The sisters started their career in the late 80's when they were teenagers, performing under the name "The Smith Reflections." They even opened up for Tony! Toni! Tone! and member Raphael Saddiq became the girls' mentor. The sisters changed their group name to "Willie Max" after their parents' first names.

In 1998, Willie Max was signed to Raphael's record label, Pookie Records and released their only album, "Bona Fide." It's unknown how or if the album ever charted.

4Kast was a female R&B girl group consisting of members Kisha, Kia (born Kia Jeffries), Sharissa, and Tasha from New York who formed the group in 1995. Kia Jeffries was a member of the early 90's short-lived R&B girl group, Oscar. In 1998, 4Kast released their debut album, "Any Weather" on RCA Records. It's unknown how or if the album ever charted.
The group's highest chart appearance was with the single, "I Tried" which peaked at #46 on Billboard's Hot R&B\Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart. Another single, "Miss My Lovin" was released, but didn't chart.
After that, they had appeared to have faded into obscurity. Sharissa went on to have a solo career, releasing two albums: "No Half Steppin" in 2002 and "Every Beat of My Heart" in 2005. Sharissa had a minor solo hit with the song, "Any Other Night" which peaked at #72 on the Billboard Hot 100 from her debut album. Kia Jeffries is now pursuing a solo career under the name "Babydoll." Robbie Mychals was an R&B singer from the early 90's who had a music style similar to Keith Sweat and Bobby Brown.
In 1990, Robbie released his self-titled debut album on Alpha International Records which peaked at #71 on Billboard's R&B Albums chart.
The first single, "Can't Get Enuff of You" peaked at #49 on Billboard's Hot R&B\Hip-Hop Singles and Tracks chart.

The second single, "Do For You, You For Me" fared better, peaking at #46 on Billboard's Hot R&B\Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart. Geoff McBride

Geoff McBride (born on October 23, 1960 in North Carolina) was an R&B singer from the 90's. As a child, Geoff sang gospel music and he even performed for the governor of North Carolina and former President Jimmy Carter.

In 1990, Geoff released his debut album, "Do You Still Remember Love" on Arista Records which peaked at #55 on Billboard's R&B Albums chart.

The singles released from the album were "Gotta Good Thing" which peaked at #14 on Billlboard's R&B charts and "No Sweeter Lover" which peaked at #37 on Billboard's R&B charts in 1991.

After that, Geoff took some time off from the music biz to take personal control of his music. During that time, he lived to Atlanta, Georgia and was later married. He sang on musician Amy Lee's two albums, was a former sax player for Jimmy Buffett, and sang for North Point Community Church in various areas of service for six years & BigStuf Camps.

Geoff co-wrote songs with Ben Holst under the name "Holst & McBride" where they opened for Aaron Neville at The Variety Playhouse in Little Five Points in March of 2003 and played at the Athens Human Rights Festival in that same year too.

He also sang with Guild of Sound (who are from Lawrenceville, Georgia) with Mark Copeland, John Sussewell, Steve Freeman, and Don Klayman. Geoff also provided vocals on the album "Valentines: The Music of Jim Brickman" with singer Felicia Sorenson and did commercial jingles such as Dark & Lovely, MARTA, Coca Cola, and Chevrolet.

In 2006, Geoff relocated to Santa Rosa Beach, Florida with his family where he has been working with musicians Tim Jackson, Chris Clifton, Duke Bardell, and Donny Sundal.
Geoff was also the lead singer for the Rhythm All-Stars promo recording for JoMar Records, but he left in February of 2008. Currently, Geoff is working on a few independent projects and his music is available on Blue Destiny Records. He is working on a new crooner album that will be available soon.

S.H.E. was a female R&B trio consisting of Tyren Perry and her younger sisters Jaimee & Jania Foxworth. You might have already seen my post on Tyren Perry which is featured on the blog as well.

During their childhood, Tyren, Jaimee, and Jania would always sing around the house together. When their family moved to Los Angeles, they booked gigs doing session work and performances for Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie's Children of the World project. Jania and Tyren were even featured as backing vocalists on Quincy Jones' 1989 album, "Back on the Block" on the song, "Tomorrow (A Better You, Better Me)" featuring Tevin Campbell.

Not only was Tyren an actress as well, so was her sister, Jaimee who starred on "Family Matters" as Judy Winslow until 1993 after she requested a pay increase which the producers couldn't do and they didn't know what to do with her character anyway, so she was let go from the show and her character was written out. Jaimee did star on the show, "Getting By," but the show got canceled after one season. Jania also acted in a few minor roles as well, but not as much as her sisters did. She even starred on the show, "Amen," showing off her singing skills.

After their family put in so much for their daughters' careers, they went through quite some financial problems. The girls decided to form a group and start a music career together. The girls were noticed by Shaquille O'Neal, who featured them on his second album, "You Can't Stop the Reign" in 1996.
During that same year, S.H.E. released their first single, "My Secret Is" which got little attention. Despite that, they were able to release an album.
In 1997, they released their only album, "3's A Charm" which didn't appear to chart at all on the Billboard charts. The girls were also featured on the soundtrack to Shaq's movie, "Steel."

Soon after, the girls were dropped from the label and remained out of the spotlight which had put a strain on their family and it was rumored they filed for bankruptcy. Jaimee went on a downward spiral, suffering from a substance abuse problem and started acting in pornography under the name "Crave."

In 2008, Jaimee was featured on Vh1's "Celebrity Rehab With Dr. Drew" recovering from her substance abuse problem. After she appeared on the show, Jaimee got her act together and in May 2009, she gave birth to a baby boy. During that same year, Jaimee was featured on TV One's "Life After" series. She is planning on releasing an autobiography.

Jania had done choreography for Shaquille O'Neal's shows and starred in the gospel play, "Treat Her Like a Lady" and starred in the movie, "Keepin' It Real." She has choreographed and provided background vocals for Heather Headley, even choreographing her music video, "He Is." Jania starred on NBC's "Passions" as the singing voice of the character, Whitney. She also wrote a few songs with Emmy-award winning producer, John Henry and even toured South America. In 2007, she scored a dance hit with the Perry Twins called, "Activate My Body." Tyren is now part of the heavy metal group, Kai's Army and still acts.

In 1982, the group released their debut album, "I Need A Freak" on Heat Records. It's unknown how or if the album was successful. The title song was released as a single, but it's unknown how well it did.

Bobby Nunn

Bobby Nunn (not to be confused with singer Bobby Nunn who sang with R&B groups the Coasters and the Robins in the 50's and 60's) was an R&B\funk singer from the early 80's. He got his start as a protege for the late Rick James and played synthesizer on Rick's earlier hits.

In 1982, Bobby released his debut album, "Second To Nunn" which peaked at #148 on the Billboard 200 chart and #14 on Billboard's R&B Albums chart. The single, "She's Just a Groupie" peaked at #15 on Billboard's R&B Singles chart and #28 on Billboard's Hot Dance Music\Club Play chart.
In 1983, Bobby released his sophomore album, "Private Party" which peaked at #41 on Billboard's R&B Albums chart. The title song managed to peak at #50 on Billboard's R&B Singles chart. After that, nothing much has been heard from Bobby. It seems as if he's faded into obscurity.

Ozone

Ozone was an R&B\funk group from Nashville, Tennessee in 1977 by three former members of the funk band, The Endeavors who were Benny Wallace, Jimmy Stewart, and Charles Glenn. They later recruited members Thomas Bumpass, William White, Ray Woodard, Greg Hargrove, and Paul Hines to provide instrumental and vocal support. In the group's later years, Joe Foxworth became part of the group.

Ozone was signed to Motown Records. They was initially used by the label as backing musicians for musicians Billy Preston and Syretta before they allowed them to make records in 1980. After touring with Billy Preston for 2 years, they were signed to Motown. Ozone has done musical arrangements for artists such as Teena Marie and Bobby Nunn.
In 1980, Ozone released their debut album, "Walk On" which didn't appear to chart at all on the Billboard charts. The instrumental title song gave them initial moderate success on the R&B charts, but not so much on the pop charts.
In 1981, the group released their sophomore album, "Jump On It" which also failed to chart at all on the Billboard charts. It's unknown how successful the album was.
During that same year, Ozone released their third album, "Send It" which managed to peak at #61 on Billboard's R&B Albums chart in 1982. The single, "Gigolette" peaked at #73 on Billboard's R&B Singles chart.
In 1982, Ozone released their fourth album, "Lil Suzy" which peaked at #152 on the Billboard 200 and #45 on Billboard's R&B Albums chart. The title song was released as a single, but it's unknown how or if it was successful.
In 1983, Ozone released their fifth and last album, "Glasses" which peaked at #50 on Billboard's R&B Albums chart. The single, "Strutt My Thang" became their highest chart appearance to date, peaking at #55 on Billboard's R&B Singles chart. Another single, "(Our Hearts) Will Always Shine" was quite successful in the UK and has been fondly remembered there.

Being Motown's "house band" had its advantages, but Ozone didn't receive a lot of recognition and it hindered them from becoming a household name. With Motown not giving the group any radio or tour support at all, Ozone disbanded. After that, nothing much has been heard from them. They seemed to have faded into obscurity.

Mercedes (born Raquel Miller from New Orleans, Louisiana) was a female rapper who was signed to rapper Master P's No Limit Records label. She grew up in Detroit and attended the High School for The Fine and Performing Arts and participating in the Brazeal Dennard Youth Chorale. Mercedes was studying music at Xavier University when Master P. caught her attention at a talent show and she was signed to the label.
In 1999, Mercedes released her one and only album, "Rear End" which peaked at #72 on the Billboard 200 chart and #12 on Billboard's R&B Albums chart. The first single, "It's Your Thing" peaked at #96 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #4 on Billboard's Hot Rap Singles chart. The title song managed to peak at #31 on Billboard's Hot R&B\Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart.

After that, Mercedes reportedly retired from the music business to attend law school. Nothing much has been heard from her since. She has seemed to have faded into obscurity.

Petite was a teen female R&B group from the 80's that consisted of members Kenne (born Kimberly Davis), Julia Roberson, Monica Boyd, and Tisha Hunter.
In 1986, Petite released the single, "So Fine," a tribute to New Edition. The single managed to peak at #86 on Billboard's Hot R&B Singles chart. During that same year, they released their only album, "Petite Teens." It's unknown how or if the album was successful. They also had a rare single called "My First Kiss."

By 1988, the group's name was "Kenne and Petite" and released the single, "What Is He To You." After that, they split up and had seemingly fallen into obscurity. But in 1991, Tisha Hunter, Monica Boyd, and Julia Roberson went on to form girl group, Ex-Girlfriend (which is also featured on the blog), and ended up having moderate success on the charts. Ex-Girlfriend lasted until 1995, but in 2008, they reunited for a new album which is yet to be released. It's unknown what Kenne is up to and it seems as if she's faded into obscurity.

Q-Feel

Q-Feel was a synth-pop group from England that consisted of singer\bass guitarist Martin Page, singer\guitarist Brian Fairweather, drummer Trevor Thornton, and background vocalist\keyboardist Chris Richardson. Trevor Thornton was in the rock band, Asia and also in bands Walk on Fire, Saxon, and One Nation. In 1981, they released their first single, "Doctor on the Radio."
It wasn't until 1982 that Q-Feel scored a hit with their song, "Dancing in Heaven (Orbital Be-Bop)." The song was an entry in the 1982 "A Song For Europe" which is the UK's pre-selection for the Eurovision Song Contest, where it finished in 6th place. In the US, the song managed to peak at #18 on Billboard's Hot Dance Music\Club Play Singles chart.

A year later in 1983, Q-Feel released their self-titled album on Jive Records. The album produced two more singles: "Crossstalk" and "Heroes Never Die." The group split in 1984, but in 1985, "Dancing in Heaven (Orbital Be-Bop)" was featured in the movie, "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" and it was also included on the movie's soundtrack.

In 1989, "Dancing in Heaven (Orbital Be-Bop)" was re-released and it managed to peak at #75 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #44 on Billboard's Hot Dance Music\Maxi-Singles Sales chart.
Martin Page became a songwriter, writing songs for Starship, Go West, Heart, Robbie Robertson, Tom Jones, Earth, Wind, & Fire, The Commodores, Bernie Taupin, and many more. In 1994, he released his solo album, "In The House of Stone and Light" where the title song became a hit, peaking at #14 on the Billboard Hot 100 and topped Billboard's Adult Contemporary chart. In 2008, Martin released his second album, "In The Temple of the Muse" independently. He currently lives in Southern California. It's unknown what the other members of Q-Feel are up to today. Not much has been heard from them.

Dr. Jeckyll & Mr. Hyde

Dr. Jeckyll (born Andre Harrell on September 26, 1960 in Harlem, New York) and Mr. Hyde (born Alonzo Brown) were a hip-hop duo from the 80's. They were known for their corporate business style, wearing designer suits and ties while they rapped. They originally went under the name "Harlem World Crew" and recorded on Tayser Records in 1980. Alonzo Brown joined Profile Records under the name "Ronnie Love" and recorded a song called "Young Ladies."
During that same year, the duo teamed up together to record the single, "Genius Love" which was the first hip-hop record to use the Tom Tom Club's "Genius of Love" sample. In 1982, the song managed to peak at #31 on Billboard's R&B Singles chart.
Dr. Jeckyll and Mr. Hyde continued to release singles and released their only album, "The Champagne of Rap" in 1985. It's unknown how or if the album ever charted or was successful at all. By 1987, the duo was no more. Alonzo Brown continued to record with Profile Records and released a 12" single called, "The Witch b\w Hyde's Beat."

Andre Harrell worked at Rush Management as vice-president and general manager. After that, Andre discovered Uptown Records, where he was responsible for discovering Sean "Diddy" Combs. When a young Mary J. Blige recorded a cover version of "Caught Up In the Rapture" by Anita Baker in a recording booth at a mall, singer Jeff Redd (who was an A&R runner for Uptown) got the tape from Mary's mother's boyfriend. Jeff sent it to Andre, Andre met Mary, and soon after in 1989, Mary became the youngest female singer on Uptown Records.

In 1988, Andre was given a label deal with MCA Music Entertainment Group and in 1992, MCA offered him a multimedia deal which included television and film productions. Uptown Records was later re-named Uptown Entertainment and their records were featured in productions for Universal Pictures and Universal Television. In 1995, Andre was appointed the CEO of Motown Records. As for Alonzo Brown, he became a producer and screenwriter, serving as the executive producer for "The Judge Mathis Show."
