Bemshi (born Bemshi Shearer) was an R&B singer from the '90s. She is the daughter of '60s vibraphonist & jazz musician, Oliver Shearer. Her first name was inspired by the Theolonious Monk song "Bemsha Swing."
In 1992, she released the album "Womanchild" on Capitol Records. The album didn't receive a lot of commercial success and failed to make the charts at all. After that, she was dropped from her record label.

It appeared as if Bemshi faded into obscurity, but according to the Isle of Deserted Pop Stars, she still performs in New York as part of a group of musicians called the Earthdriver Collective.
