Asante was a male R&B vocal group from New York City that consisted of members Pharaoh Oyewole, Warren Robinson, Andre Zacharly, and Wil Townsend. The group's name means "thank you" in Swahili. Pharaoh's father, Abiodun Oyewole was a former member of the group, The Last Poets.
In 1995, Asante released their only album, "Asante Mode" which didn't appear to make the Billboard charts at all.
The first single, "Look What You've Done" peaked at #42 on Billboard's Hot R&B Singles chart in October of 1995, staying on the chart for 20 weeks.
The follow-up single, "All About You" peaked at #87 on Billboard's Hot R&B Singles chart in June of 1996, staying on the chart for only 5 weeks. After that, it seems as if Asante has faded into obscurity. Nothing much has been heard from them since.
