In their teenage years, Kena and Nakia focused on dance and movie careers while Karen had dreams of becoming a singer.
When the girls moved to Boston, their aspirations switched to music. They teamed up with Karen and soon got a record contract with Warner Bros. Records.
In 1997, Phajja released their debut album, "Seize the Moment" which peaked at #79 on Billboard's R&B Albums chart.
The follow-up single and Phajja's highest-charting hit to date "So Long (Well Well Well)" peaked at #87 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #30 on Billboard's Hot R&B Singles chart, staying on the chart for 20 weeks. On May 17, 1997, Phajja appeared on "Soul Train."
These days, Nakia (now Nakia Epps-Williams) started Shades of Jade Enterprise in 2007 in Atlanta, Georgia and is also a parent.
Kena (now Kena Sage) continues to be in the music biz as a solo singer. She also wrote songs for artists such as Mario Winans, Montell Jordan, Devine Evans, and Mizchief and is currently working on new music.
It's unknown what Karen Johnson is up to these days.
