Gene Rice

Gene Rice (born in 1950 in Baltimore, Maryland) is a contemporary R&B singer from the 90's. He comes from a musical family and later moved to Los Angeles, California to pursue his music career.
In 1991, Gene released his debut album "Just For You" on RCA Records. The album peaked at #26 on Billboard's R&B Albums chart.
The first single from the album "You're A Victim" peaked at #16 on Billboard's Hot R&B Singles chart, staying on the chart for 14 weeks.
The follow-up single "You're Gonna Get Served" peaked at #12 on Billboard's Hot R&B Singles chart, staying on the chart for 16 weeks, making it his only highest appearance on the R&B charts.

The last single from the album "Love Is Calling You" peaked at #27 on Billboard's Hot R&B Singles chart, staying on the chart for 13 weeks.

Gene was featured on musician Marion Meadows' song "Love Was Never" (which also featured Angela Bofill). The song managed to peak at #70 on Billboard's Hot R&B Singles chart, staying on the chart for 6 weeks.
In 1992, Gene released his self-titled sophomore album which peaked at #93 on Billboard's R&B Albums chart.
The only single released from the album was "Come a Little Closer" which peaked at #58 on Billboard's Hot R&B Singles chart, staying on the chart for 12 weeks. After that, it seemed as if Gene faded into obscurity.

In 2008, Gene's third album "Ready 2 Luv U" was planned to be released on the Mystique Entertainment record label, but it's unknown if the album was shelved or not. These days, it's unknown what Gene is up to.
