Dana Dane

Dana Dane (born Dana McLeese in Fort Greene, Brooklyn, New York) is a hip-hop rapper who was known for his fashion sense, humorous lyrics, and rapping in a fake British accent. Dana began his music career as a member of the Kangol Crew.
In 1985, Dana released his first single, "Nightmares" which peaked at #21 on Billboard's Hot R&B\Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart and #38 on Billboard's Hot Dance Music\Maxi-Singles Sales chart.
In May of 1987, Dana released his debut album, "Dana Dane With Fame" which peaked at #46 on the Billboard 200 chart and #2 on Billboard's R&B Albums chart.
Dana's second single, "Cinderfella Dana Dane" became his biggest well-known hit to date, peaking at #11 on Billboard's Hot R&B\Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart.
The third single from the album, "Delancey Street" peaked at #44 on Billboard's Hot R&B\Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart. The last single released from the album, "This Be the Def Beat" peaked at #30 on Billboard's Hot R&B\Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart.
In October of 1990, 4 years after Dana Dane's debut, he released his sophomore album, "Dana Dane 4 Ever" which peaked at #150 on the Billboard 200 and #23 on Billboard's R&B Albums chart. The album flopped, failing to match the success of his debut album.
5 years later in March of 1995, Dana Dane released his third and last album to date, "Rollin wit Dana Dane" which peaked at #42 on Billboard's R&B Albums chart, but failed to chart at all on the Billboard 200. The first single from the album, "Record Jock" peaked at #11 on Billboard's Hot Rap Singles chart and #61 on Billboard's Hot R&B\Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart.
The last single from the album, "Rollin' wit Dane" peaked at #25 on Billboard's Hot Rap Singles chart and #77 on Billboard's Hot R&B\Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart.

After that, Dana opened his own clothing boutique called "IV Plai Boutique" in New York during the late 80's\early 90's which has since closed. In 2002, Dana Dane's greatest hits album was released. Dana worked as an on-air host for Sirius\XM Satellite Radio on their old-school hip-hop channel called "BackSpin." In February 2009, Dana released a book called "Numbers: A Novel."
