Terri Wells

Terri Wells (born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) was a female R&B/dance singer from the 80s. She began singing in church before she was old enough to sing in clubs.

Terri and a few local friends later formed a group called "City Limits" who were briefly signed to Philadelphia International Records in the mid 70s.

After the group disbanded, she was hired as Dexter Wansel's session singer at the label and for the next few years, she toured & recorded with artists such as Lou Rawls, Jean Carne, MFSB and Leon Huff.

After Dexter retired from live performances, Terri was hired by Roy Ayers, toured in his band and co-wrote the song "Let's Stay Together" for his album "Feelin' Good."

She was the lead singer on Roy's song "Turn Me Loose" and later signed to Roy's record label, Uno Melodic, but nothing was released from her on the label.

In the 80s, Terri signed to Philly World Records and in 1983, she released the single "You Make it Heaven" which peaked at #53 on the U.K. Singles chart.
In 1984, Terri released her only album "Just Like Dreamin'." It's unknown how or if the album made the charts at all.
Terri's second single, a cover version of the Spinners' hit song "I'll Be Around" peaked at #17 on the U.K. Singles chart, #46 on Billboard's Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart and #81 on Billboard's Black Singles chart, staying on the chart for 3 weeks.
The third single "I'm Givin' All My Love" peaked at #25 on Billboard's Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart and #66 on Billboard's Hot Black Singles chart, staying on the chart for 10 weeks.
The last two singles "I Already Know" and the title song were released, but didn't make the charts.

After that, Terri continued to co-wrote songs and sing background vocals, but these days, it seems as if she has faded into obscurity.
