Nocera

Nocera (born Maria Nocera in 1967 in Sicily) is a female freestyle\dance singer from the 80's. She was raised in Parma, Emilia-Romagna in Central Italy. When she was 18 years old, Nocera moved to the United States and signed with Sleeping Bag Records.
In 1986, Nocera released her debut album "Over the Rainbow" which didn't appear to make the Billboard album charts.
Her first single "Summertime, Summertime" peaked at #84 on the Billboard Hot 100 in February of 1987, #2 on Billboard's Hot Dance Music\Club Play chart in November of 1986, #5 on Billboard's Hot Dance Music\Maxi-Singles Sales chart, and #47 on Billboard's Hot Black Singles chart in November of 1986, staying on the chart for 13 weeks.
The follow-up single "Let's Go" which peaked at #8 on Billboard's Hot Dance Music\Club Play chart and #70 on Billboard's Hot Black Singles chart in December of 1987, staying on the chart for 10 weeks.
The last single from the album "Tell U So" didn't make the Billboard charts at all. Nocera planned to work on a second album, but in 1991, Sleeping Bag Records closed down.

After that, Nocera sang background vocals for artists such as Information Society, India, and Sa-Fire during the early to mid 1990's. She also toured with Information Society nationally and internationally, singing background vocals and playing keyboard.

In 2000, Nocera formed trip-hop music group, "Voice of the Satellites" with guitarist Gregg Fine and keyboardist John Roggie. The band released a few EP's, but hasn't signed to a major record deal yet.  In 2006, Nocera toured in the United States with the "Freestyle Explosion" concert series.
In 2007, Nocera released the EP "Nocera's Electric Circus" produced by NYC music producer, Hidden Tiger. The EP is available on CD Baby, Amazon.com and iTunes.

These days, Nocera continues to work as a club DJ in New York City. She also fronts a band called The BB Batts under the name "Lulu Nocera."
