Grady Harrell

Grady Harrell (born Grady Harrell Jr. in Los Angeles, California) is a male R&B singer from the '80s and '90s. He has been performing since he was 5 years old. His mother was a member of The Friends of Distinction.

Grady's career grew when he and his sister, Roq-E-Harrell formed a group called Papa's Results. They played together for over six years and worked on stage side by side with music groups such as Shalamar, Lakeside, and the Whispers. R&B singer Howard Hewitt beat him out of the role as the lead singer for Shalamar.
In 1984, Grady released his debut album "Mwana" on MCA Records. It's unknown how or if the album made the charts.
The only single to chart was "Belinda" which peaked at #69 on Billboard's Hot Black Singles chart, staying on the chart for 7 weeks.
In 1989, Grady released his second album "Come Play With Me" on RCA Records. The album peaked at #34 on Billboard's R&B Albums chart and was co-produced by Stevie Wonder (who is a childhood idol of Grady's).
The first single from the album "Sticks and Stones" peaked at #4 on Billboard's Hot Black Singles chart, staying on the chart for 20 weeks.
The follow-up single "Fun" peaked at #31 on Billboard's Hot Black Singles chart, staying on the chart for 11 weeks.
In 1990, Grady released his third album "Romance Me." It's unknown how or if the album made the charts.
The first single "Don't Turn Your Back On Me" peaked at #40 on Billboard's Hot Black Singles chart, staying on the chart for 10 weeks.
The follow-up single, "Patience" peaked at #52 on Billboard's Hot R&B Singles chart, staying on the chart for 8 weeks.

Grady has toured and recorded with artists such as James Ingram, Patti LaBelle, the Dazz Band and Vesta Williams.

Since the mid-'90s, he has toured in musical theatre productions across the United States and appeared in several commercials for Sprite and Coca Cola. He even played Jackie Wilson in the mini-series, "The Jacksons: An American Dream."

In 2001, Grady did his first European tour and joined his sister Rocq-E and the cast of the successful Atlantic/Motown show "R.E.S.P.E.C.T." in theatres across the Benelux. Since then, he has been dividing his time between performances in Los Angeles, Europe and Las Vegas. His sons have formed an R&B group called Brutha.

These days, Grady is currently touring with his band, Groove City.
