Joe Public

Joe Public were an R&B\New Jack Swing group from Buffalo, New York that consisted of lead singer\bass guitarist Kevin Scott, keyboardist\guitarist Jake Carter, drummer\percussionist Dwight "Mr. Dew" Wyatt and lead guitarist Joseph "JR" Sayles.

The group's original name was Atension who released their debut album on Island Records in 1989 and had two moderately successful singles on the R&B charts. They even co-wrote Keith Sweat's song, "Keep it Comin'."
In 1992, they released their self-titled debut album on Columbia Records, which peaked at #111 on the Billboard 200, #2 on Billboard's Heatseekers Albums chart and #23 on Billboard's R&B Albums chart.

The first single and their biggest hit to date "Live and Learn" peaked at #4 on the Billboard Hot 100, #19 on Billboard's Hot Dance Music\Maxi-Singles Sales chart, #36 on Billboard's Hot Dance Music\Club Play chart, and #3 on Billboard's Hot R&B Singles chart, staying on the chart for 21 weeks. It also managed to peak at #43 on the U.K. Singles chart.

The group even hosted the "NBA Jam: The Music Videos" VHS which featured the music video for "Live and Learn" along with clips of basketball footage.
The second single from the album "Do You Everynite" peaked at #98 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #36 on Billboard's Rhythmic Top 40 chart.
The third single "I Miss You" peaked at #55 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #8 on Billboard's Hot R&B Singles chart, staying on the chart for 18 weeks.
The last single "I've Been Watchin'" peaked at #54 on Billboard's Hot R&B Singles chart, staying on the chart for 7 weeks.
In 1994, the group released their last album to date "Easy Come, Easy Go" which didn't make the Billboard album charts at all.

The only single to chart was the title song, which managed to peak at #81 on Billboard's Hot R&B Singles chart, staying on the chart for 9 weeks.

After that, it seems as if Joe Public has faded into obscurity. Nothing much has been heard from them since.
